Hawaii
Kona coffee grows on the slopes above Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, between about 800 and 2,500 feet, in a belt about 30 miles long. Most of its 700 or so farms are under five acres, and many open for tours along Mamalahoa Highway from Holualoa to Captain Cook. On Kauai, Kauai Coffee Company's estate is about 17 miles from Lihue airport. Chocolate is made from beans grown in Kona, and Kō Hana distills rum from its own sugarcane in Kunia on Oahu.

Kona coffee farms for sale: what to know
Most Kona coffee farms are small, under five acres, on the slopes between about 800 and 2,500 feet. This page explains what a Kona coffee farm is and how to enquire; it lists no properties and no prices.
Kona airport to the coffee belt
From Kona airport (KOA), drive south toward Kailua-Kona, then uphill to Mamalahoa Highway, which runs through the coffee belt from Holualoa south to Kealakekua and Captain Cook. The farms are spread out, so most visitors drive.
Kona Coffee Cultural Festival
The 55th Kona Coffee Cultural Festival runs November 6 to 15, 2026, at venues across Kona on the Big Island. A $10 festival button covers most events, including farm tours on working coffee farms.
From the Kona cruise anchorage
Cruise ships anchor off Kona and passengers come ashore by tender boat, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority. The coffee farms are inland on Mamalahoa Highway.
